Quiet Zone

Walter Reid-Building

Rockhampton River Festival has a dedicated Sensory Quiet Zone available in the Walter Reid Cultural Centre for attendees who may be experiencing sensory overload.

What is a Quiet Zone?

A Sensory Quiet Zone is a designated area designed to provide a calm, quiet, and sensory-friendly environment. These zones help individuals who may be overwhelmed by sensory input that make it challenging to cope with noisy, bright, or crowded environments. The River Festival Quiet Zone will provide a safe retreat for individuals who need a break from sensory overload, helping them to relax and recharge.

Where is the Quiet Zone?

The Quiet Zone is located on the Ground Level of the Walter Reid Cultural Centre (corner of Derby and East Streets) in the Rita Kershaw Meeting Room.

As you enter the Walter Reid Foyer (either from the lift or the stairs) the Quiet Zone is located in the left-hand corner of the room, opposite the canteen.

When is the Quiet Zone open?

In partnership with Endeavour Foundation the Quiet Zone will be facilitated at the following times. Outside of these times, the area will be unsupervised.
